Author Interview - Roy Huff, Author of Everville: The First Pillar

Hi everyone! 1. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE?
I have done a lot of technical writing for my various degrees. The book itself actually started as a creative writing paper for an English class.

2. CAN WRITERS CHANGE THE WORLD?
Without question writers influence the hearts and minds of readers. From the beginning of the moveable type printing press and beyond, writers have helped shape the ideas that have destroyed and created societies.

3. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE BOOK AND WHY?

Imagine if these four had an orgy. Just imagine it.

There are so many books it is impossible to answer. I love both fiction and non fiction, but it's impossible to narrow down to a single one. I've been influenced by all the greats, Orwell, Tolkien, Rowling, C.S. Lewis, and others.

4. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR NEW AND UP-AND-COMING WRITERS?
Never give up. Never take no for an answer. Hire a good editor, and spend as much time as possible promoting your work in person and through social media if you plan on making a commercial success out of it.

5. IF YOUR BOOK WAS TURNED INTO A MOVIE, WHO WOULD DIRECT IT? WHO WOULD STAR IN IT?

Everville: The First Pillar, directed by Sir Peter Jackson, coming soon to a theater near you in December 2016. Book your tickets now.

There are current discussions as we speak, though nothing definite. If it were turned into a movie, it would be directed by Peter Jackson, and star Jennifer Lawrence, John Malkovich, with a relatively unknown actor for the lead role of Owen Sage.

Jennifer Lawrence is ready to sign your book. If you haven't written one, then get writing or else her cleavage will swallow you whole!

6. IF YOU WEREN'T A WRITER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING NOW?
I write part-time. My day job is a satellite liaison for NASA's GOES-R Proving Ground with the University of Hawaii. I also teach math and science on occasion.

7. IF THE WORLD ENDED TOMORROW, WHAT WOULD YOU DO TODAY?
Watch a movie, go hiking, and eat a fantastic meal.
