MOVIE REVIEW: Iron Man 3

Hi everyone! This is my first movie review for this blog and let's kick things off with the first major blockbuster of the year: Iron Man 3.

Gwyneth Paltrow loves being embraced by Iron Man's rock-hard armor and his beautiful blue eyes
IRON MAN 3

You don't need to see any of the previous Iron Man movies or last year's The Avengers to enjoy this third installment because Iron Man 3 is one of those movies where the plot's not even important. It's simply about a rich billionaire (Robert Downey Jr.) who builds cool-looking armored suits and uses them to save the world from crazy evil maniacs.

I've come across reviews criticizing this movie for it's weak plot -- but honestly, who cares?

The plot doesn't even have to make any sense and it'll still be enjoyable. Expecting a great storyline from Iron Man 3 is like walking into a pizza shop and expecting sushi or putting your head inside a cow's anus and expecting it to smell pleasant.

IS THE MOVIE FUNNY?

Yes. Robert Downey Jr.'s brilliant comic timing combined with witty one-liners and some unexpected moments will have you laughing out loud. This third film contains the most humor of any Marvel movie so far and that's a good thing because let's get real here -- movies like Iron Man 3 aim to entertain the audience and it succeeds brilliantly! I don't expect any more from it.

But if it does make you contemplate your existence or change your outlook on the universe, then that would be surprisingly wonderful (and also strange), but it won't, I'm sure of it -- unless you've been living inside a giraffe's anus your whole life and just managed to escape and randomly walk into a movie theatre and witness the glorious Iron Man 3 -- perhaps it might be a radically life-changing movie for you? Who knows?

HOW'S THE ACTION?

Iron Man 3 manages to do what many big-budget CGI movies haven't done in years: deliver fresh and inventive action scenes. There are three main set-pieces: the total destruction of Tony Stark's house, a thrilling mid-air rescue and the final battle scene that takes place on an oil rig. All three scenes deliver exciting twists along with some humor and are just delightful to watch.

And a heads up: there's a funny 30 second scene after the end credits.

So what are you waiting for? Go watch Iron Man 3 this weekend!

My rating: 8 out of 10
