BOOK REVIEW: Everville: The First Pillar by Roy Huff

Hi everyone! Here's a review of Everville: The First Pillar by Roy Huff (I interviewed him 2 months ago). It's a very enjoyable read and does what any good fantasy book should do: transport you to another world! I also somehow managed to mention "premature ejaculation" in this book review.

EVERVILLE: THE FIRST PILLAR by Roy Huff
I was initially drawn to this book by it's cover, which is very well done (like a good steak). The wizard guy on it looks like a bearded Ben Kingsley playing the Grim Reaper or something.

WHAT'S THE BOOK ABOUT?
It's about this college freshman named Owen who every now and then finds himself in another world/dimension/land—and then he must help the good guys fight the evil forces and all that stuff. It's aimed at the YA crowd or even younger, but I'm in my mid twenties and I still enjoyed it.

DOES IT TRANSPORT THE READER?
Any great work of fiction (especially science fiction and fantasy) must transport the reader to another world and this book did just that. I was taken along with the hero to fight the evil forces that threatened the two worlds. There's also the real world side of the story where our hero goes to college and joins a club and participates in some competitive games, which is a lot of fun to read.

ANY NITPICKS?
There is one problem with the book and it's a third act plot twist that's completely unnecessary. I'm trying to think of a good analogy for how unnecessary it is, but all I can come up with is something along the lines of—it's as if your lover just prematurely ejaculated and you think to yourself: "Oh c'mon, did that really just happen?". Yeah, something along those lines.

Oh yeah, the book is FREE right now, so go grab yourself a copy. The book's sequel, Everville: The City of Worms has also just been released and it's only 99 cents for a limited time.

While you're at it, check out this awe-inspiring article by the author himself, Roy Huff:
Fiction is a Driver of the Future
It's a fantastic reminder on the power of fiction. Check it out!

If you've also read this book, let me know what you thought of it. Or if you have any thoughts about premature ejaculation, drop a comment below. :)
